Common mistakes
« Depuis » takes the present for something still going on: « J'habite ici depuis trois ans ».
« Il y a » means “ago” and « dans » means “in” (from now): « il y a deux jours », « dans deux jours ».
« Pour » is for a planned length of time: « Je pars pour une semaine ».
