Good to know

• « Passer un examen » is a false friend: it means to take an exam. To pass it is « réussir un examen ».
• « Le bac » is the exam at the end of high school, and « la fac » is the informal word for university.
• « La rentrée » is the start of the school year in September, a big moment in French life.
